It's going to be a...

Today we had our 20 week ultrasound to see the sex of the baby.  Baby looked good, although a little cramped.  I don't remember Emma being quite so heels over head.  Turns out we are having another girl!  You wanted a little sister so it all worked out well.  You spent time playing on the iPad, holding my hand, and watching the baby monitor during the ultrasound.  Daddy was going to go into work early after the appointment was done.  (He got sent home on a very busy Saturday because he was so sick so he felt bad.)  I think he got so excited about having another girl that he went to lunch with us instead.  We got into the exam room to speak with the doctor.  I looked at you and said, "You're going to have a baby sister.  Her name is going to be Stella Grace."  Daddy said, "Is that what we're going with?"  We had talked about it, but recently I had started to like Gwen as well.  I looked at his face, smile ear to ear, and said, "Look at you!  How can we not go with that name?!"  He is super excited to have his two girls.  I'm happy baby looks healthy.  I think another girl will be easier.  I hope you guys end up being friends and not competitors.  We'll have to work on that.

I find Stella Grace appropriate on many levels.  1 - you have a book from Aunt Kate called Stellaluna about a bat.  You love reading it.  (We don't read it before bedtime often because it's so long.)  2 - you loved the Dave Matthews Band CD Big Whiskey and the Groo Grux King when you were little and it soothed you.  Now you sing to it.  He has twin daughters Stella and Grace.  (That was coincidence, but it works out well.)  3 - you can pronounce Stella no problem!  Of course, we get a lot of the "Stella!" in the Marlon Brando voice from A Streetcar Named Desire, but that will probably be so old that no one in Stella's generation will know what in the world that is.  And if she does get it, so what.

On another note, we will start potty training you soon.  I was going to do it this week, but given all the driving we'll be doing for a couple of days, I think it might be easier to wait until the week after when we're home with nothing really to do.  I think that will help with consistency (and not peeing on other people's floors!)
