Happy half birthday!

You were 6 months old yesterday. It makes me very happy you share your half birthday with your Great Grandma Maguet. She would have loved you. Granted, we would have gotten, "You need to move closer" much more often than we already do, but it would have been worth it.

You're so close to crawling. You get up on your hands and knees, rock back and forth, and then propel yourself forward into a belly flop. You cover lots of ground between this move, your army crawling, and rolling. Today you went clear across the basement floor to your jungle playmat. Your dad thought I put you over there! You think you're hot stuff.

You love your solid foods. I'm not convinced you'll stop eating if we keep offering you the spoon, so we only give you a couple ounces at a time. We've started to try to teach you sign language. We're staring with "more". We ask you if you want more food, more dancing, more playing, more tickling -- pretty much anything that you can eat or makes you laugh. It might be a few months before we see you do this, but it will be nice when you do. If you can learn "more" along with "hurt, eat, nurse, yes, no, up", things could go much smoother.

You're having difficulty sleeping at night again. Sometimes you'll sleep all the way through, sometimes you'll go to 4ish, sometimes beginning at 10 pm you'll wake up every 15 minutes. We're never sure what baby we'll get. We'll take you into bed with us and usually this calms you down to where you'll sleep. Last night you kept tossing and turning even once you were in bed with us. I had to turn my back to you because you kept knocking me in the eye, nose, face or trying to grab my nose or my hair. I don't know how you sleep tossing and turning that much!

Our garden is starting to take off. Some carrots have sprouted in the back, along with some peas. We have beans and lettuce and zucchini sprouting on the window ledge. Pretty soon we'll get some more stuff to make baby food for you. It should be an interesting summer working on this garden for you!

we're in the same boat with crummy sleeping - so many times dax will wake up and won't go back to sleep in his bed so we have to put him in bed with us, and he does the same thing as emma - he rolls around and punches us in the face!
