We went home for Christmas Eve with the families. We set off bright and early from Lansing at 7 am. We made it to your Grandma's house by 8:30. We had company by 9 and breakfast at 9:30. Greg and Sue (Grandma's neighbors who knew me since I was 5), Pete and Betty (Grandma's friends), Aunt Marilyn and Uncle Denny were all there. As soon as you were done eating, Sue, Marilyn, and Betty all stole you away. You slept through breakfast in your Boppy chair so we all got to eat. We opened gifts then headed to see Great Grandpa at the rehab center. You loved him: he made noises and funny faces at you and you watched him for a good 15 minutes. You got to meet Jason and Anita and their son TJ, your cousin. You got some really cute dresses that I'm sure will show up in your 3 or 6 month photos.
We did Christmas eve night at your Nana and Grandpa's house. You got to meet your Uncle Hobie. Again, you were pretty happy all night. You cried a bit when Uncle TJ held you, but he did pretty good with you. You kept crying though and made him feel bad so he handed you to Nana. You got to meet Nichole too, your Uncle Jeremy's sister. Your Aunt Kellyn wasn't there but she got you a beautiful Patagonia jacket, which is good because we didn't have a winter coat for you once you outgrew the snowsuit. Your Nana made us a beautiful scrapbook of you including shower pictures and pictures from the hospital when you were born and meeting some important friends and family. I think she's still working on some pages.
We left that night to come back and have Christmas in our own house for the first time in 6 years. You slept longer than dad and I so we cleaned up the gifts from Christmas eve. After you woke up, we headed downstairs to open gifts and take photos. You were very happy! Your dad bought some Heck family gifts this year: Scrabble (for dad and I) and Candyland (for dad and I until you're old enough to play it with us). Uncle Jeremy got here around 10 so we made pancakes for breakfast and then we started watching a movie. It was about now that you got really fussy. Apparently something I had eaten did not sit well with you at all and you were fussy until about 4 pm with awful gas and indigestion. We did our best to comfort you as well as giving you some Gripe water and rubbing your belly with the tummy oil that's supposed to make you feel better. You were a little better but still not happy.
We opened gifts. Uncle Jeremy got you the best Red Wings outfit ever: pants, a onesie, and a sweatshirt. They'll fit for the latter part of the season and the playoffs. We ate dinner around 6 and you were in your bouncy chair being happy -- Uncle Jeremy was talking to you and you were mesmerized. Then we heard it: you finally got the poop out that was making you feel horrid. That was one Christmas gift I didn't need -- we didn't bother with the wipes and just threw you in the tub.
Overall I think your first Christmas went really well!
