playing catch up

I missed your 7 month post, Stella.  I found out that day that your Great Papa had taken a turn for the worse in the hospital.  He passed away two days later.  You didn't really get to know him and you won't remember him.  You did make him smile though.  We were at Christopher's birthday party.  You sat on his lap and babbled at him for nearly 30 minutes.  We found out I was pregnant with you right after mom passed away.  When we told him, he teared up hearing you were due near Great Grandma's birthday in May.

You're already nearly 8 months.  You're still in 3-6 month clothes!  You are so much more petite than Emma was (and is, really).  I'll weigh you tomorrow because I'm curious.  It's ok that you're waiting.  Emma's 6-9 month clothes are all summer clothes anyway.  It is taking you a while to sit up steadily on your own.  Eating solids and sitting in the high chair has helped you make progress on that.  On the floor, you are able to sit on your own without falling over now; however, you don't do it much.  You are usually lunging after a toy and falling onto your side.  You are eating TONS of solid foods.  You aren't that interested in nursing lately.  You don't nurse long and you keep rolling to the side to see what else is going on.  Emma didn't do that until 10 months and it was shortly after that we stopped nursing.

Christmas was a couple days ago, your first.  Emma helped you open all your gifts.  Next year it will be a different story I'm sure.  You're cutting your top right tooth so everything you got you've been chewing on.  Nana, Papa, Uncle TJ, and Aunt Kellyn came up to visit Christmas Eve.  You went to them for a little bit at the beginning of the evening, but by dinner you had a major meltdown and I had to take you the rest of the night.

We spent Christmas morning here then went down to visit Uncle Denny, Aunt Marilyn, Jason, Kristina, Christopher, and the Huber gang.  You were much the same: you let Marilyn hold you for a bit but then you cried the rest of the time and had to have dad or I holding you.  We stayed the next two nights at Aunt Marilyn's so I could go through grandpa's house and the rest of mom's stuff in their basement.  By the time we left, you were letting Marilyn hold you more.
