Impromptu visit from Nana and Papa

Nana showed Papa the new pictures of Stella and the video of Emma yesterday.  Dad got a text at 10:30 last night asking if we wanted company today so Nana and Papa came up to see you girls.  We were going to go to Hawk Island and go fishing a bit so Dad took you, Emma, to get a fishing pole just for you.  You guys practiced casting in the backyard for a bit.  Apparently you caught the tree a lot.  Dad took video because you reminded him of Uncle Jeremy with how often you caught the tree!

Nana and Papa were going to get here around 1 pm so, Emma, we put you down for a nap early.  For some reason Dad left your door open more than usual.  It was a cooler day today so we had windows and the front door open.  Nana knocked softly on the door and said, "Hello?"  As soon as she said that, from your room I heard you do your cry/whine that means "I want to get up."  I went in there to get you and you said, "Is Nana here?!" and you went to run out of the room.  I don't think you actually slept at all but just kept an ear out for Nana and Papa.

You showed Nana and Papa how you could cast in the backyard.  Since Stella was asleep, we packed her up and ran to the park so you could cast for real.  Dad took corn kernels as bait.  The fish didn't buy it.  It also didn't help that you were baiting the fish and simply dropping the kernels in right next to where Papa or Dad were fishing.  Dad went and bought some worms and then you guys started catching fish.  Dad caught the first one.  You almost kissed it (Nana got that picture) but then it twitched and you only wanted to touch it instead.  Papa snagged a fish on your line and you reeled it in.  You were so excited.  Having Papa catch it was the only way you were going to get a fish.  You would drop it in the water about 6 inches then immediately reel it back in, submerge it again, then reel back in.  Nana caught a fish on your hook.  Papa got the fish off and was holding it for you to kiss.  You were shying away and the fish jumped right out of his hand directly towards your face!  It hit you flat on the cheek and you started freaking out and crying!  You went to everyone for solace.  You finally calmed down but wanted nothing else to do with fishing for the day.

Stella, you were awake through all of this.  You hung out with Nana and I.  Nana was impressed with how much you were "talking" already.

Afterwards we came home and Nana and Papa were treated to the full Emma show.  You were running around, singing, hitting your balloon, and being crazy.  Papa thought it was just because of them.   In part, but really it was just you and being nearly 3.

Nana love

What Stella did while Emma fished

Looks like Stella's saying, "Huh?"

Playing with Papa

Emma was too interested in the granola bar to get a picture taken.  Food is the only thing that trumps playing it up for the camera.
