Operation No Bink

I figured when you hit 2 it was time to lose the bink.  We didn't do it your birthday weekend because we wanted you to be normal for your party.  I didn't do it the following weekend because I was gone to Denver and you stayed with Nana and Papa.  So, that left this weekend.  Every night I've told you how many nights you have left.  Today, you and Daddy packed them up for Baby Alexis (Brenda's and CJ's daughter).  Brenda was nice enough to stop by after work and our weekly Friday meeting to allow you to give them to Alexis.  You were so excited to help her out!  Then we thought that bribing you with sleeping in your new room with the BIG big girl bed might help you forget about no bink.

We went out to dinner to Mongolian BBQ.  You ate really well.  The whole time we complimented you on how generous you were to give your binks to Alexis and how now you could sleep in your big girl bed in your purple room.  You were really excited and proud of yourself.  We got home, cleaned up the floor to the purple room, moved out the second dresser, moved in the bookshelf to get some toys off the floor, then went through the normal night time routine: bath, pajamas, book, rocking and singing, then climbing into bed.  We did 3 songs in the rocking chair but then you wanted to hear "Hakuna Matata," so I put you in bed and tucked you in and sang it to you then.  Then you wanted "Spartans", meaning the Spartan fight song.  I sang that and then told you "I love you" and "Goodnight."  You said, "Mama, no bink tonight because I gave them to Alexis.  I a big girl!"  You were so proud of yourself still!  Now, let's see if you remember all this around 5 am when you usually wake up crying for your bink that you lost in the middle of the night!

On another side note, every so often you come up to me, lift my shirt and say "hi" to the baby.
