Gross motor skills

It seems as though your body has finally caught up to your brain's desire to do things on your own. You have been in the "I can feed myself" mode for awhile now, which meant that you wouldn't eat yogurt because you couldn't manage the spoon and wouldn't let us feed you. I had been giving you fruit slices and a bowl of yogurt to dip it in so you'd still get some. Two days ago I attempted yogurt with you again and let you try it on your own. Success! The majority made it in your mouth and you'll let me clean up what's around your mouth with the spoon and actually let me feed it to you. Meal times are much nicer now.

We had been putting a gate up at the bottom of the stairs when we're in the basement so you don't try to climb the stairs. We've been able to not put it up and you haven't tried climbing them. A few nights ago, you would climb up one stair and then put your hand on the wall and step down. You thought you were so cool. This morning you started doing that again so I had you climb higher and taught you to scoot down on your butt. You figured it out very quickly. It seems like you're able to do physical things easier and sooner when we teach them to you. It's still a little wobbly so we still have to watch you - I caught you a few times before you bit it down the stairs.

You have also figured out if given the right handholds you can climb onto the couch or chair or rocking chair. That's nice for us because you never stay in one place longer than 3 seconds so it usually was us picking you up, you sliding down, and then asking to be picked up again. It got old real quick!
