Your first birthday

We had your first birthday party on Sunday. Lots of family and a few friends came over. Your Uncle TJ and Uncle Jeremy came up on Saturday. You went from not liking guys when you were younger to loving them now. You gave hugs and kisses to them freely and sometimes without warning. Sunday morning your dad, Uncle Jeremy, and I were upstairs decorating and cooking. You sat with Uncle TJ watching Sesame Street for about an hour. Even when other people got here, if you were feeling uncomfortable, you'd find one of them if you couldn't find us.

Once people got here you were social. It took you a bit to warm up at first, but then you were very happy being the center of attention. You had your own little cake that you could dive into. When we put you in your high chair for it, you started saying "yummy" like you usually do before eating. Then we started singing to you and you stopped talking and just stared. People were taking pictures of you at the same time. With all the flashes it was like paparazzi and celebrities. Once we stopped singing, then you started laughing again! You weren't a huge fan of it, although you definitely got plenty of icing on you as expected. (You might have just been full from the huge lunch you had. That was done on purpose.)

When it came to opening gifts, you definitely were more interested in the paper. You helped open the first 4 or 5 and then you were distracted by the gifts that were open already. Your dad and Uncle Jeremy couldn't get them out of the packaging fast enough for your liking. You got a LOT of gifts. Everyone who came was very generous. You are a lucky little girl with a lot of people who care about you.
Your cake since we haven't tried you with eggs again. It was pumpkin bread with frosting.

You loved your new lawn mower that your dad and I got you.
Your crown that Shawnie made you for your birthday at daycare. At first you ripped it off your head, but then you smashed it back on and let us take the pictures.

This is how you looked after your cake.Opening some gifts.
