Hearing better than a dog's

I don't know how you do it, whether it's super-sonic hearing or a sixth "mama-sense": you can be nearly sound asleep, I can sneak out of your room not making a sound (or so I think), yet you roll over nearly immediately and cry because I'm gone.

You don't always fall asleep nursing at night before bed so I've been rocking you to sleep, laying you down when you're nearly out, and you'll roll onto your side and begin to fall back asleep. I'll keep my hand on your hip or your back and then gently lift off pressure. Then I'll stand there and watch for your breathing to slow and you to stop dragging your feet along the sheet feeling the texture. I'll move one step closer to the door... and then one step more... and then I'll slide out the door as soundlessly as I can, usually leaving it ajar because it creaks... and then you sit up immediately and cry. We did this 5 times tonight before you were either tired enough to not care or had actually fallen asleep.

You also have two new favorite games:

#1 - playing with the empty dog dishes: you pull it out and bang it on the floor. This morning I also gave you a spoon (dad was sleeping but needed to wake up!). You figured out real quick how to bang them together.

#2 - pulling handfuls of Kaya's food out of a full dog dish and dropping them onto the floor or into her water. I don't think she needs you to feed her, but I think giving them food will probably be your first chore at home when you're big enough.
