Happy 1st birthday!

You are one year old already. It's amazing. You're amazing! Today was a pretty normal day: daycare and then home. While driving you to daycare this morning I thought back one year. I was waiting somewhat patiently for you to decide you wanted to make an appearance. I had a doctor's appointment scheduled to get an ultrasound to check on you. They said you didn't have much fluid around you for cushion and it was time for you to come out. We were at the hospital around 12:30, labor started around 2:20, you were born by 8:51 pm. I did not expect to become a mom that day and even when we were at the hospital I didn't expect you to come so soon.

Tonight I read over the journal entries your dad and I wrote the day after you were born. We looked through your first pictures too. By coincidence I put on the same pajamas tonight that I wore in the hospital after you were born.

We Skyped with Aunt Kate, Uncle Nate, and cousin Spencer tonight so they could watch you open your gifts. You got some nice clothes and a really cool book. You were more interested in the paper though. I see how Sunday will work then for your first birthday party.

I can't quite express how happy I am that you're here. You make each of my days better. It can be the worst day at school, and I can be frustrated to the point of wanting to quit. When I get home and you give me a hug and kiss, it changes everything. Thank you!
