Fussy baby

We took you down to Monroe today to meet your Great Grandma. She thought you were precious...and fussy. You spent the majority of the time either eating or crying or dozing on my or dad's shoulder. You had a grand 15 minutes on the floor where you just kicked and made happy noises. Other than that, you were a pistol.

That seems to be the norm lately: if you're awake you're eating or crying. Very rarely can we get you to sit in your swing or Boppy chair or lay on the floor for even a short amount of time. I hope you grow out of this. You're nearly 4 weeks and apparently you're supposed to go through a growth spurt around 3 weeks. I did some research online and found that babies can be fussier and clingier when they're going through a growth spurt (which you have definitely been) and want to eat more often (you've been wanting to eat about every 1.5 to 2 hours during the day). You have been napping more during the day (another sign of a growth spurt). However you've been sleeping anywhere from 4-6 hours in one stretch at night, which we love, but apparently is atypical of a growth spurt. I'm hoping you grow out of the clingy, crying, fussy stage otherwise day care won't be fun for you or anyone else there.

One of the baby books we have calls your temperament "high need". I hope you outgrow that because if you continue to be a high need toddler, always wanting to be held and interacted with and not entertaining yourself ever, a second kid feels impossible!
